Sometimes, healing needs more than a 50-minute session allows.
For clients looking to process more emotionally significant experiences, deepen Internal Family Systems (IFS) work, or devote focused time to a particular issue or life transition, extended sessions and intensives provide the space and continuity that deeper therapeutic work often benefits from.
Why Choose an Extended Session or Intensive?
Many conversations unfold naturally within a standard therapy session. Other times, having more uninterrupted time allows us to stay with what's emerging rather than pause because the session has come to an end.
Extended sessions and intensives create space for therapy to unfold at its own pace while allowing more time for reflection and integration. They can be especially valuable when exploring emotionally significant experiences, engaging in deeper Internal Family Systems (IFS) work, processing complex relationship dynamics, or navigating important life decisions that benefit from sustained attention.
What Are Extended Sessions & Intensives?
Extended Sessions
Extended sessions are longer versions of a traditional therapy session, typically lasting 75–90 minutes.
They follow the same collaborative approach as our regular sessions, simply providing more uninterrupted time to stay with what's emerging, explore complex issues in greater depth, and thoughtfully integrate the work before the session comes to a close.
Intensives
Intensives are extended therapy sessions that typically range from 2–6 hours and may take place over a single day or across multiple days.
Like extended sessions, they follow the same collaborative approach as our regular therapy, simply providing a larger block of uninterrupted time to focus on a particular issue, life transition, relationship dynamic, or therapeutic goal.
Who Might Benefit from Longer Sessions?
Extended sessions or intensives may be a good fit if you:
Want more uninterrupted time than a standard session allows
Are engaging in deeper Internal Family Systems (IFS) work
Are processing a particularly meaningful or emotionally significant experience
Are navigating a major life transition or difficult decision
Feel like you're just getting to the heart of things when the session ends
Want dedicated time to focus on a relationship, family, or work concern

If you're unsure, we can decide together. While many clients find 50-minute sessions to be the right fit, there are times when additional uninterrupted time may be beneficial. We'll discuss your goals and determine whether an extended session or intensive makes sense for what you're hoping to accomplish.

No. Extended sessions and intensives are available to both new and existing clients. If you're new to the practice, we'll schedule an initial consultation to determine whether this format is a good fit.

Extended sessions typically last 75–90 minutes, while intensives are several hours long and may take place over a single day or across multiple days. Both use the same therapeutic approaches as our regular sessions—the primary difference is simply the amount of uninterrupted time available.

Extended sessions and intensives can be especially helpful for deeper Internal Family Systems (IFS) work, processing emotionally significant experiences, navigating life transitions, relationship concerns, executive functioning challenges, complex decision-making, or any issue that would benefit from more uninterrupted time than a standard session allows.
